Mission
As Friends we are called to seek the Light in everyone. It is our mission to gather and share resources that will allow families facing discrimination and hardship because of their immigrant status to maintain their dignity and remain together. We disperse needed funds directly to the individuals in need, affirming that giving without expectations of specific outcomes is a practice in unconditional love.
Purpose
The Kennett Friends Fund for Immigrant Support seeks to help stabilize immigrant families in our community that are facing hardship because of their immigrant status. We are particularly sensitive to the need for aid that other agencies can’t provide, and to be available to those who face barriers to accessing other aid.
Funds are granted directly to individuals who are recommended by one of our Identified Community Advocates.
Examples of how funds can be used include:
- Legal expenses, including bond
- Emergency needs, including food
- Interpreter services
- Citizenship application process
- Repatriation expenses
- “DREAMer” support
- Other hardships
