Old Kennett Meeting special events & tours
Worship at the Old Kennett Meetinghouse is the LAST Sunday in June, July, & August at 9AM

Old Kennett Meetinghouse is an historic one room structure where the Religious Society of Friends, also known as the Quakers, meet for worship at 9am on the last Sunday of the Summer months of June, July, and August. The building measures about 36 by 60 feet with a capacity of about 200 people. It is located in the heart of the Brandywine Valley in the town of Kennett Square PA, near the intersection of Route 52 (Old Kennett Pike) and Route 1 (East Baltimore Pike). Enjoy our free roofed picnic area under majestic shade trees as you tour Brandywine Valley attractions, including ours.
The Old Kennett Meetinghouse can be booked for events that may include meetings, weddings, memorials, historic, and private events or tours. It serves as an important historical link to the rich Quaker heritage of the area and is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.
The meetinghouse is neither heated nor air conditioned, has no electricity or running water.
Flame is not allowed anywhere in the building nor on the grounds. Visitors are welcome to use the small picnic area adjacent to the meetinghouse, but we respectfully request guests bag their own trash. Donations are always appreciated.
The Old Kennett Meeting property is host to a long list of historic events as well as legacy trees, thus visitors are welcome to tour the graveyard and arboretum on their own, or arrange an individual or group tour.
Enjoy the majesty of our ancient trees; hemlocks, tulip poplars, red oaks, and PA Champion trees Aesculus flava and Sassafras albidum. We have planted succession canopy trees, underplanted with understory trees and shrubs. In the green burial area, a native meadow is planted with grasses and forbs. The arboretum was recognized in 2025 as a Level 1 Cemetery Arboretum.
A free roofed picnic area located adjacent to the meetinghouse under some of the majestic shade trees is available for respite or a BYO repast. We respectfully request that you pack out your refuse, and note we have no restrooms. Flame of any kind is not allowed. Donations are always appreciated.
